As with anyone with an obsessive hobby, the hard part is always finding the delicate balance between family and riding. This past month seems to have the mark of family first, a weekend in Cedar City with the wife, a weekend of camping with the kids, this weekend a funeral, and coming up soon a week down at Bryce Canyon with my immediate family (I am itching to try Thunder Mountain so I’m taking the bike). It’s all about balance and harmony.
Last weekend I enjoyed some riding time with Deer Mouse, The Duke, and Senior Pepe. We did a Saturday ride around the Kamas and Heber Valleys. It was great to get in a long ride again after being off the bike for so long.
Wednesday I was going to tackle Butterfield canyon but as I got to the mouth of the canyon it started to lightly sprinkle so I turned back. It did start to downpour pretty good about a mile from home. Nothing like the adventure Kris and Utrider had up Big Cottonwood though.
This weekend I’m hoping to get a long ride in on Sunday. The plan is to do the Kamas-Strawberry-Fruitland-Hanna-Wolf Creek loop.
Good luck to everyone racing at Wolverine Ridge tomorrow I wish I could be there, but you know, family comes first.
