Friday I decided to help the Bull Elk with feeds at the Semi-pro race. I met up with Utrider and Cowboy Bart, who were doing feeds for Blake and 1 lap Fox. It was hot and the Bull Elk did something I’ve never seen him do, he took a new bottle on each lap. 4 bottles, one for each lap. This just reaffirmed my decision to skip NORBA (and give a dying series any more money) and race Masters at Kamas to Evanston.
Saturday, I was pretty nervous, after my disastrous Masters race at HON I wasn’t sure what to expect. As the gun went off and we started out of town I was glad to see the pace was pretty mellow. This didn’t last long. 10 minutes in to the race an attack went off and 30 seconds later the peloton was off and chasing. This continued off and on for the next hour. Finally as we started toward Provo Falls my legs were telling me to slow down and I dropped off the back.
The climb up Bald was pretty good. I felt strong and managed to pass one guy in my category that must have got tossed right after me. As I went off the back I was hoping to have some guys in my category catch me but not until the long decent to Christmas meadows did I see anyone. Two guys in my group went speeding by (I was doing 45 but apparently that isn’t fast enough on the DH) I tried staying on their wheels but they just pulled away. So I did a TT all the way to Evanston. Results haven’t been posted yet, but my odometer said 3:49 so I was pretty happy about knocking 30 minutes off last year’s time.
Sunday I got a camera for father’s day. Yea real pictures instead of crap from my razor!
