Which software to use....

I think I'm going to end up using a combination of the Garmin Training center and probably the Motionbased.com software to track my training. The CyclingPeaks stuff is great if you have a power tap and stuff, but since I don't I'm more interested in grade and ascent. The Motionbased.com and CyclingPeaks don't appear to have cadence information so I'll have to look at the Garmin for that. I'll continue to test and analyze the software.

Here is the elevation profile from motionbased.com

Here's a big plug for cyclingpeaks. It provides, by far, the best interface from which to analyze and track your progress from day to day, or year to year or...

Cyclingpeaks does track cadence, but of course if you are using a garmin you need the cadence sensor to capture the data.

Another cool feature of cyclingpeaks when using a garmin is that you can export a track to google earth.
