with the Bikeman boys who I’m riding LOTOJA with and the Payne Cave and some of the Mad Dog boys. We started out and soon found ourselves with a pretty large group and made pretty good time to the 50 mile mark. We left the 50 mile mark and started toward Springville for lunch. It was a good ride until some idiot decided to pull in front of me and I t-boned him. Luckily, I hit him square on with my front tire and endo’d over him. A little road rash and a scrape on the shifter was all that was wrong with my bike and I continued on. The other guy had his wheel pretty jacked up but I don’t feel too bad it was his fault for pulling out right in front of me. After lunch it was just the original group until we hit the light on University Ave. Suddenly two tandem bikes, and a couple of other guys just started hauling past us. Troy jumped on the back and so did Dave and I. I felt bad about leaving Mad Dog out to dry but I really wanted to see if I could hang with Troy. All I can say is those guys on the tandums can really haul. I was able to hang with them to the finish and I feel really good about that. I’m hoping I can stay with Troy through the climbs at LOTOJA. We managed to do the ride in 4:48 keeping a pretty good pace.
I guess I didn’t get enough of Utah County on Saturday so I rode over Suncrest to Provo Canyon, over the Alpine Loop
and back over Suncrest. I’m getting pretty excited about LOTOJA and feel like my fitness level is getting there.
