Eyes are crossed

I couldn't fight the bug any more. After not racing since LOTOJA I finally decided to get out and race.

The word went out that the team points race is pretty heated so I've decided to do my part and race cross. Saturday was the final stop at the Heber venue and I decided to see how I'd do in the C flite since my training has been none.

Having been 2 years since I've done a cross race I forgot that you have to show up to the start at least 10 minutes before the start in order to get a good start spot which is key in cross. I only showed up 5 minutes and was stuck on the 4th row. The gun went off and I proceeded to end up in the middle of the pack. Over the next two laps I managed to work in the top ten only to hit the "I'm not training" wall 15 minutes into the race. It didn't help that I looked down and my heart rate was a killer 197. So I decided to ease off let a few guys go and settle into a more manageable pace for a 13/29 finish. Not bad, pushed things again the last two laps and managed to pass a couple of guys. Next week is the State Championships at Wheeler, I'm hoping I can finish top 10.
