I felt pretty good this morning considering I had done a race yesterday so I headed to K-town to do a 100 mile ride with The Slush Elk. As we started talking we realized that it was pretty hot and rather than ride to Heber - Strawberry- Fruitland - Hanna- Wolf Creek we should just ride over Wolf Creek and that way we could decided how much riding we want to do instead of getting stranded 50 miles from K-town. I was feeling pretty good even managed to drop the lush as we climbed past Mill Hollow. 10 minutes later however the lush caught and dropped me as I started to feel the heat. We got to the top of Wolf Creek pass only to discover NO WATER!! at any of the campgrounds. We decided to just head to some campgrounds at the base of Wolf Creek on the Hanna side then turn around and ride back. So, one DWR check point and a mean dog that thankfully ran into a car coming the other way (the dog wasn't hurt just blocked from chasing us) We got some water and continued to suffer all the way back to K-town. 5,000 calories, 80 miles, 4 lbs of water loss, and 5 hours later I managed to crawl back to K-town. 2 liters of water later I'm still dehydrated.
Since I didn't take my camera I thought I'd post this pic I was able to sneak of Sly showing off the 1-speed.
