Cyclocross weather

I was excited about 5-mile pass, the conditions seem to suite me and I was ready to go. Cool, cloudy weather with tacky dirt. I started on the front row since no one else seemed willing to step up. The start was good, not too fast and I was hanging right with the lead group as we hit the first climb. At the second climb the lead group took off and I knew I couldn’t hang on. I decided just to try and stick with a couple of other guys including the Payne Cave. By now my legs started to feel heavy and I knew I had to slow down so I took it down a notch and decided to keep at my pace until I saw someone else from my category. I never did see anyone else from my category which would explain why I did a 54 minute first lap and 1 hour second lap. I wasn’t too happy with my second lap way too slow for me but it’s hard to keep pushing yourself when you don’t have anyone to catch.

The new Maxxis Ignitor tires came in on Friday so I had them running on the bike for the race. They were really good. With the conditions I decided to run a little more pressure then usual at 40 pounds and only once did I feel any slipping while cornering. The Giant was great, climbs like a mountain goat and was ripping the DH.

Not sure about this weekend. The Lava Rama is about the only thing going on. Not sure if I’m going to go or not. The weather is supposed to be in the 80’s which is a little too warm for me.
