Commute

I'm thinking of commuting to work. I'm trying to figure out the best route north on the west side of the valley. 27th west? Jordan River Parkway? Any suggestions? My office is on 3rd west downtown so east-side routes are out..

being a recent transplant i don't know alot about the "west" side, but i see alot of riders comutting on state street.

i did try to ride the jordan pathway one morning early and some gangster high school kids stopped me. i thought they were hurt or in trouble, but they wanted me to give them my bike.

i laughed and thought of "crocodile dundee" movie where he says "thats not a knife, now this is a kinfe".
anyways i didn't have a big knife to pull out so i just pushed down the closest two and showed them my sleeve tattoos. they scattered.....

funny story, harmless kids, i can't imagine anybody giving up their bike just by being asked.

2700 W is pretty nice though it doesn't go all the way downtown. You'll need to work your way over to Indiana (900 S) and take that under I-15. Or, try and continue south to 200 S which if I remember has a bike lane and should take you right to the Gateway.

I was looking at 2700 and it ends at 21st south so I'd have to jump over 3200 west which might be a better route instead of 2700 west

2700 West has a nice bike lane/shoulder. 3200 isn't too bad either and has bike lanes that go all the way to the 21st freeway area where you can then hook into the 1700 South road that also has a nice bike lane.

Jordan river parkway can be sketchy with snow (if there still is some) and gang bangers, drug pushers or guys wondering if you want to sneak off the path for a few minutes to get to know them better
