Apparently I'm not supposed to have a good mountain bike race this year or even race at Deer Valley. After doing my mid-year chain replacement I discovered that my middle ring is worn out. Everything checked out great on my pre-race check up on Thursday, but while warming up Saturday I noticed my chain would slip whenever I put some torque into the pedal. I guess I could have raced using my granny and big ring.
The reality is I need a new bike. Yea I know it's not the bike, it's the rider, but you can't expect to beat a Corvette no matter how good of a driver you are when you are driving a 74 Nova pieced together with spare parts.
This seems to be me lately.
I try to keep this in mind. I guess I'm a slow learner.
