Time Keeps on Slipping.

The past week has been crazy. I’ve been trying the get rides in along with other obligations I have and it makes me feel like not a whole lot gets done.

Saturday I attempted to race and made a rookie mistake. During my Thursday night bike check I forgot to check the rear brake line and sure enough Saturday morning I was out of rear brake fluid it must have started to work its way loose after the ride on Wednesday. After running down to Cole Sport for a quick fill-up and bleed I got back to Deer Valley 20 minutes after the start of the race. I got a DNF which made me even more motivated to put a big ride in on Sunday.

Sunday, The Bull Elk, Chris and I decided to try a ride up by Bench Creek in Woodland.

I took my GPS and here is a Google Earth picture of the ride.

It was a really good ride, epic at 3:30 of riding time for only 20 miles and it reminded me of the old days before mountain biking was big and most of the trails were horse trails with very little use, complete with a rock garden and multiple stream crossings. Hopefully I can get out and do the ride a few more times this summer. There are a lot of other trails in the area that would be worth exploring.

Tonight I’m hoping to get in a long ride in anticipation of doing the Kamas to Evanston race Saturday.
