Finally a finish!

After three attempts I finally have finished a cyclocross race properly. Sunday, October 24 at Wheeler Farm I managed to finish 10th considering starting last, and stopping for an injured rider.
Coming into the first turn to the concrete I found myself behind the only B woman rider. As we went into the corner I noticed she seemed quite unsure of herself and was a little wobbly on the turn. I made a mental note to pass her ASAP. As we headed for the second turn I noticed that with only 25 yards between corners it would be prudent to wait until the long stretch after the corner to pass. As we went into the second corner I noticed she was braking into the corner. Listening to my instincts, I immediately moved to the inside corner and as I did she went down. I just about hit her arm as she started sliding across the concrete and won't forget the loud sound her helmet made as it bounced off the concrete. I immediately stopped and look back at her. By then she was setting up. I asked if she was hurt badly. She waived her hand which I took as a no and proceeded to the registration area 75 yards ahead to let them know about the crash. After all this I still managed to fight through 4 riders but lost a sprint to the finish.

After the race I found out she was taken to the hospital after her speech started slurring. I hope she is doing ok.
